WORLD YOUTH FOUNDATION: HONING WORLD LEADERS THROUGH VOLUNTEERING    By Benjamin Ngutsav  Recently the world marked International Youth day with the theme: Safe Spaces for Youth. What the United Nations, UN, is advocating for is simple. That spaces in the Civic, Public, Digital and Physical, be safe to accommodate the views and opinions of youth that are geared towards nation building. However, while a small percentage of youths have honed their leadership skills and are adding value to society, the larger percentage of youths are preoccupied with trivialities. Sadly enough the Digital Space, the Internet, which houses more youths, has not been seen by many as a tool for social change. In this gap, the World Youth Foundation has provided youth with a volunteering opportunity to learn, lead and follow; and above all become of value to society. 2018 INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY:  THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFE SPACES FOR YOUTH.  By Benjamin Ngutsav  The theme for this year's youth international day is 'Safe Space for Youth.' Shekau’s mum speaks, traces his joining Boko Haram to his journey as an ‘Almajiri boy’ The mother of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has broken her silence about her most-wanted son. Falmata Abubakar spoke with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America (VOA), in the village of Shekau, Yobe State. In a report published Thursday, VOA said elders and leaders of the village took its team to the woman. The report also said Shekau’s late father was the Imam of the village Mosque before his death. Falmata said she had no idea where her son was or his situation. “I don’t know whether he is dead or alive, only God knows, I have not seen him in the last 15 years,” she said. Residents of the village said they always hid the identity of their village for fear of being associated with the Boko Haram leader. His mother said Shekau left the village for Maiduguri, the Borno State capital as a young boy in search of Islamic knowledge. She said he was an “almajiri boy” who w...

USCIRF Designates Nigeria among "Countries of Particular Concern" By Ortindin Loho -  Benue State, Nigeria,  The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has classified Nigeria and other sixteen countries as "Countries of Particular Concern," CPC. Country of Particular Concern, C PC, is a designation by the United States Secretary of State, under authority delegated by the President, of a nation guilty of particularly severe violations of religious freedom under the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA). According to its 2018 Annual Report, Nigeria is among countries that have violated religious freedom. This could be largely attributed to the killings of Christians in the Middle belt where two Priest and seventeen faithful were killed in a Mass and other killings across the Christian dominated areas. The report states: "In Nigeria, the government failed to prevent or stop increasing vio...
