WORLD YOUTH FOUNDATION: HONING WORLD LEADERS THROUGH VOLUNTEERING

By Benjamin Ngutsav

Recently the world marked International Youth day with the theme: Safe Spaces for Youth. What the United Nations, UN, is advocating for is simple. That spaces in the Civic, Public, Digital and Physical, be safe to accommodate the views and opinions of youth that are geared towards nation building.

However, while a small percentage of youths have honed their leadership skills and are adding value to society, the larger percentage of youths are preoccupied with trivialities. Sadly enough the Digital Space, the Internet, which houses more youths, has not been seen by many as a tool for social change.

In this gap, the World Youth Foundation has provided youth with a volunteering opportunity to learn, lead and follow; and above all become of value to society.

World Youth Foundation, WYF, is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. It is associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information.

The volunteering opportunities with WYF, are enormous and beneficial. First, through is programmes, it engages, empowers, and educates young people on a range of issues, as well as give them the opportunity to share best practices, networking and learning through people-to-people exchange.

Secondly, it identifies, encourages, promotes and facilitates the expansion of innovative and suitable educational, social, cultural, environmental and humanitarian work conducted by youth movements and organizations worldwide.

World Youth Foundation’s focus is on the youth; to engage, empower and educate them. The truth is when youths are better informed and well equipped with leadership skills, the world would be better for it.

Become an online volunteer with WYF and gain to give to the society. We are better when we learn, but together.
