BENUE IDPs SOAR The number of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs who have been displaced as a result of the unabated killings in Benue state, Nigeria, is on the rise. The ongoing killings which are allegedly carried out the Fulani herdsmen have not been put to stop thereby sending in droves members of the affected communities to the available Internally Displaced Camps for safety. According to the Chief Press secretary to the Benue State Governor, Mr. Terver Akase, in a release to refute decamping of his boss to another political party, said the humanitarian crisis in the state is nearly 500,000 persons. "What is of greater concern to the Governor now is how to stop the killings in the state and also tackle the humanitarian crisis with nearly 500,000 displaced persons as a result of the invasion of communities and killing of defenceless people by armed men."

Woman loses balance in high heels, drops baby from second floor A baby fell to his death after his mother lost her balance in high heels and dropped him from a balcony. He was reported to have suffered spinal injuries and died before he could be taken to the hospital. Police officers were called to the scene and later ruled out any foul play, ruling the baby’s death an accident. Femida Shaikh, 23, was attending a wedding in the city of Kaylan near Mumbai in India, with her six-month-old son, Mohammed, but she was not able to walk properly in her footwear, according to local media. Assistant police inspector, Vijay Khedekar, said, “We immediately reached the spot after the incident and took the baby to a hospital, where he was declared dead. “The woman and her relatives have narrated the incident. “We have registered an Accidental Death Report in the matter and handed over the body to the family.”

No PVC, no sex for men – Fela Durotoye charges Nigerian women Presidential aspirant, Fela Durotoye, has charged married Nigerian women to deny their husbands who do not have permanent voter’s card (PVC) sex. He said that wives should ‘lock up’ their husbands who don’t have their PVCs by July 1, 2018, while urging young unmarried women to ward off romantic interests from men who haven’t acquired theirs. Durotoye made the statement while making a presentation on The Platform in Lagos on Tuesday. He said, “We need to get our PVCs.   Police find $8.5m in a Nigerian student's home in London  A huge sum of money was discovered in the apartment of a Nigerian student by the London Metropolitan police over the weekend. Gunmen kill 14, burn victims in Kaduna Gunmen struck in Janruwa community, Maganda district in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state, killing and burning 14 persons beyond recognition. The tragic incident occurred around 1pm on Saturday. A witness told TheCable that immediately the invaders got to the village, they opened fire from different directions. Most of the victims were said to be local miners. “Some of those killed were said to have been burnt beyond recognition. Soyinka on nationwide killings: Nigeria on auto-pilot… the captain is missing Wole Soyinka, Nobel laureate, says Nigeria is on auto-pilot, and could crash if efforts are not made to regain control of the country in time.
