BENUE IDPs SOAR

The number of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs who have been displaced as a result of the unabated killings in Benue state, Nigeria, is on the rise.

The ongoing killings which are allegedly carried out the Fulani herdsmen have not been put to stop thereby sending in droves members of the affected communities to the available Internally Displaced Camps for safety.

According to the Chief Press secretary to the Benue State Governor, Mr. Terver Akase, in a release to refute decamping of his boss to another political party, said the humanitarian crisis in the state is nearly 500,000 persons.

"What is of greater concern to the Governor now is how to stop the killings in the state and also tackle the humanitarian crisis with nearly 500,000 displaced persons as a result of the invasion of communities and killing of defenceless people by armed men."
